01 / THE WEEK

One city. One week.
One winner.

NYC FILM WEEK IS PRESENTED BY LOOK CINEMAS - BRINGING NEW YORK BACK TO THE MOVIES.

Filmmaking teams will submit their finished films. A jury of Hollywood insiders will select three finalists. Then the city itself decides — New Yorkers will vote, and the film with the most votes gets a theatrical run at LOOK Cinemas.

No velvet rope. No insiders-only shortlist. Just great films, a working jury, and a city that shows up.

02 / THE FORMAT

How it works

01

Submit Your Film

When the call opens, filmmaking teams submit a finished film. Join the list and you will hear the moment submissions open.

02

Hollywood Insiders Decide

A jury of Hollywood insiders screens the submissions and selects three finalists.

03

New York Votes

The three finalists go in front of the city — and New Yorkers across the five boroughs vote for the film they want to see at the movies.

04

The Big Screen

The film with the most votes gets a theatrical run at LOOK Cinemas. A real theater. A real audience. A real premiere night.

03 / ENTRY QUALIFIERS

What we take

NYC Film Week is a competition for filmmaking teams — the people behind the film, together. These are the qualifiers for entry when submissions open.

Accepted · 01

Feature Films

Finished narrative features from independent filmmaking teams.

Accepted · 02

Documentary Features

Finished nonfiction features — real stories, told at feature length.

Accepted · 03

Short-Film Anthologies

A block of short films made by one specific filmmaking team, presented together as a single entry.

60–90 min

Every entry must run at least 60 minutes and no more than 90 minutes. Anthologies must run over one hour, up to 90 minutes — in every category, the rule is the same.

Submissions are not open yet. These qualifiers apply when entries open — join the interest list below and your team will hear first.

04 / WHY IT MATTERS

Built for New York

Five days of screenings, a jury of Hollywood insiders, and a citywide vote — built in New York, for filmmakers and the audiences who champion them, and presented by LOOK Cinemas.

From April 21–25, 2027, finished films from independent filmmakers screen across the city. A jury of Hollywood insiders names three finalists. Then the city itself votes — and the film with the most votes goes to the big screen at LOOK Cinemas for a theatrical run.

The format is simple by design: filmmakers at the center, audiences with real power, and a theatrical premiere waiting at the end.

The Promise

“Hollywood insiders pick the three finalists. New York picks the winner. The winner takes the big screen.”

That is the standard NYC Film Week sets — filmmakers are not a backdrop. They are the point.
